The Faculty of Music of the University of Szeged and the Szó-Tér NGO is proud to announce the 4th Szeged International Guitar Competition held from 10-13 April 2014.
Eligible contestants cannot be older than 30 years old (born after 01/01/1984) at the time of registration. The organizers shall not deny entry to any contestant on the basis of nationality, gender or religion
The entry period deadline is 10/03/2014.
The competition fee is 80 EUR from which 50 EUR must be transferred by wire transfer to the account of the organizer Szó-Tér Egyesület: IBAN HU24 (1070 0433 4763 9209 5110 0005 CIB Bank Hungary).
At the same time filled registration form and a scanned copy of the ID card and the transfer warrant must be sent to email@example.com. The rest of the application fee (30 EUR) must be paid simultaneously with the registration at the venue in Szeged. Paying the competition fee allows the applicants to be an active participant at the master classes and to enter to the concerts.
Contestants can ask for free accomodation provided by host families in Szeged. This is strictly limited to the duration of the festival, and does not cover meals.
Contestants can also choose hostel at their own expenses, a list of those will be updated on our website.
I. Semifinal (8 to 12 minutes including the required piece)
one piece composed by a Hungarian composer or a composer from the country of origin of the contestant written after 1900. It cannot be shorter than 3 minutes.

We kindly ask the competitors to send us the exact length of each round (+/- 1 minute accepted) to help the Jury and the organizers. The judges have the option of stopping the candidate during the performance if run out of the time. All works in all rounds are to be performed from memory and no pieces played in the Semifinal may be repeated in the Final. All decisions by the judges are final. The Jury has the right to share or detain the prizes.
Judges may refuse to award to any or all the Finalists the title of First, Second or Third Place in the Competition if they determine that the contestants have not met the minimum requirements of performance quality following their performance in the Final. Judges decisions are permanent and final.
The panel of judges for the Competition will be comprised of internationally-recognized classical guitar performers, teachers and composers. Their names will be announced on the website. The points acquired are public. If the contestant’s professor is a member of the jury, in that case the professor cannot evaluate the contestant.
The Competition reserves the right to use the images and videos of the contestants publicly and universally, totally or partially, so long as it is not for monetary gain, and the contestants shall have no right to demand remuneration, withdrawal or liability for said use. Upon entry into the Competition, each contestant grants permission to the Competition Board to use his/her name for publicity and promotion of the Competition in all communication media, without prior notice, nor authorization for use, and without demanding indemnification or monetary compensation for the use of said names.
